What's a lipservice?

The funnest night of your life. A lifelong impact on theirs.

lipservice is an all-out Jimmy Fallon style lip sync battle for charity in Vancouver BC. Since 2014, lipservice has raised over $125,000 for imagine1day + WE Charity, a Canadian charity creating global change through education-focused work in Ethiopia.

Each year, between 25 and 40 performers will grace the stage, performing for over 500 spectators. Not only are they responsible for the night’s entertainment, but our performers also rockstar fundraisers,  raising donations for our charity in lieu of any entrance fee.

The Rundown

The BEST teams (solo, or up to six members per squad). Head-to-head lip sync battles, with YOU, the crowd deciding who moves on to the finals, and who becomes the newest lipservice champions.

Think American Idol, but without Simon (we like to keep it fun and positive… for the most part). Our judges are typically local personalities, who know a great performance when they see one.

Past judges include: Vancouver based Grammy-winning producer Chin Injeti; radio personality and BC Lions game-day host Chris Palliser; fashionista Sara Rose; Shaw TV’s Bianca Solterbeck & Peter Verge; and Sunday Service members Kevin Lee, Emmett Hall, and Taz VanRassel.

lipservice would not be what it is today without Vancouver’s baddess-assed (it’s a real term) comedy group, our partners in chime, Caitlin Howden and Ryan Beil from the award winning  Sunday Service.

A Lip Sync Battle? Really?

#YoJimmy!

Once upon a time, the internet and Jimmy Fallon teamed up to provide us with our favourite video of all time (look right!). After seeing this, founder Rachel Kelly decided that not only should we create our own, Vancouver-flavoured lip sync competition, but that we should do it in the name of a great cause. The rest, as they say, is historically awesome.
