Conquering the fear: A bearded man’s journey to lip sync stardom. Kinda.
The following is a guest blog post penned by lipservice 2015 participant Nick Pons. The guy’s a hero. Don’t believe us? Find out for yourself when he returns to the Imperial Vancouver stage for lipservice 2016 on April 2nd.
Participating in last years event was an incredible experience. I have to admit tho I was extremely nervous to join but knew I wanted to conquer that fear. That coupled with the charity component really had my intrigue.
So I signed up and it was game on!
That night was probably the most fun I’ve had in years. Nerves aside, once you’re on stage the adrenalin takes over and you tap into your inner ‘Jay’. The rush you get from something like this is incredible. Surprisingly everything I thought I’d be afraid to do on stage in front of a pact crowd was completely thrown out the window and I couldn’t have felt more confident being up there.
The organization was also seamless so it really makes it easy for you to focus on your performance and not worry about the other details. I’m super pumped for this years competition and can’t wait to bring it once more. After seeing me do it a few friends have even decided to join me this year.
So for anyone out there singing your Adele or Macklemore in the shower, I highly recommend taking the lip service challenge.
You won’t regret it.
